Architekt, absolwent Wydziału Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej (2004). Studiował również w FH Hildesheim w Niemczech (2002) oraz w University of Tennessee w Knoxville w Stanach Zjednoczonych (2003). Pracę doktorską pod kierunkiem profesor Anny Palej obronił z wyróżnieniem na WAPK (2011), gdzie od 2005 roku zatrudniony jest na stanowisku asystenta, a od 2012 roku na stanowisku adiunkta.
W kręgu jego zainteresowań naukowych znajduje się architektura bibliotek cywilizacji informacyjnej, affordable housing, zabudowa atrialna jednorodzinna, projektowanie urbanistyczne i zagadnienia transportu w urbanistyce.
Brał udział w projektach badawczych i pracach rozwojowych: „Wpływ współczesnych przemian cywilizacyjnych na nową rolę bibliotek w strukturze miasta”, finansowanym przez MNiSW (2010-2011), „Budownictwo efektywne energetycznie i procesowo”, zleconym przez NCBR, „Warding Ecosystem Commons Through Action-Research & Education – WECARE” w ramach konkursu organizowanego przez Komisję Europejską pn. CREA-CULT-2023-COOP. Był współautorem badania i raportu końcowego pt. „Biblioteka Kraków. Rozwój sieci miejskich bibliotek publicznych, projekt badawczo-konsultacyjny” zrealizowanego na zlecenie Gminy Miejskiej Kraków przez Małopolski Instytut Kultury w Krakowie (2016). Doradzał Bibliotece Kraków, w zakresie opracowania założeń funkcjonalno-przestrzennych do warunków konkursu na nowy budynek Mediateki na Wesołej w Krakowie (2024) oraz Uniwersytetowi Jagiellońskiemu w zakresie modernizacji Biblioteki Nauk Przyrodniczych na III Kampusie UJ (2024). Jest autorem i współautorem ponad 30 artykułów naukowych. Prowadzi zajęcia dydaktyczne w języku polskim i angielskim, na studiach I i II stopnia oraz zajęcia ze studentami wymiany z University of Tennessee. Był promotorem i współpromotorem blisko 80 prac dyplomowych inżynierskich i magisterskich, z których kilka uzyskało regionalne, krajowe i międzynarodowe nagrody, wyróżnienia i nominacje, m.in. w konkursie Zarządu Województwa Małopolskiego Respectus, konkursie Towarzystwa Urbanistów Polskich, konkursie SARPFR i RIBA President’s Medals. W 2019 i 2024 roku był gościnnym krytykiem w College of Architecture & Design, University of Tennessee w Knoxville w USA. Był promotorem pomocniczym w jednym przewodzie doktorskim (2022).
Pracował w biurach projektowych w Chicago i w Krakowie, a latach 2012-2018 prowadził (z arch. Michałem Jezierskim) własne biuro projektowe 9780 Architekci. XX w. w Gliwicach (2013), wyróżnienie w konkursie SARP i Instytutu Książki na gminną bibliotekę publiczną (2012), II wyróżnienie w konkursie SARP Kraków na zagospodarowanie funkcjonalno-przestrzenne ronda Mogilskiego wraz z jego otoczeniem w Krakowie (2007), nominację w międzynarodowym konkursie RIAI na Bibliotekę XXI wieku w Cork w Irlandii (2005) oraz II nagrodę w międzynarodowym konkursie Schindler Award (2004).
W latach 2012-2020 był pełnomocnikiem dziekana WA ds. inwestycji i remontów. Od 2022 roku jest wydziałowym koordynatorem wymiany studenckiej w ramach umów bilateralnych z zagranicznymi uczelniami (poza programem Erasmus+), a od 2025 r. redaktorem tematycznym działu Architektura czasopisma naukowego PUA Przestrzeń / Urbanistyka / Architektura.
Jest współzałożycielem i członkiem Krakowskiego Stowarzyszenia Przestrzeń-Ludzie-Miasto (od 2009). Należy do Małopolskiej Okręgowej Izby Architektów (od 2012) oraz Towarzystwa Urbanistów Polskich (od 2022).
Bartłomiej Homiński, PhD Eng. Arch.
Architect, graduated from the Faculty of Architecture, Cracow University of Technology (2004). He also studied at FH Hildesheim in Germany (2002) and at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, in the United States (2003). He earned his PhD with honors at the FA CUT (2011), where he has been employed as an assistant since 2005 and as an assistant professor since 2012.
His research interests include the architecture of libraries of the information civilization, affordable housing, the phenomenon of the single-family courtyard housing, urban design and transport issues in urban planning.
He has participated in research and development projects: ‘The impact of contemporary civilization changes on the new role of libraries in the city structure’, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2010-2011), ‘Energy- and process-efficient construction’, commissioned by the National Centre for Research and Development, ‘Warding Ecosystem Commons Through Action-Research & Education – WECARE’ as part of a competition organized by the European Commission entitled CREA-CULT-2023-COOP. He was the co-author of the study and the final report entitled ‘Krakow Library. Development of a network of municipal public libraries, research and consultation project’ commissioned by the Municipality of Krakow and carried out by the Małopolska Institute of Culture in Krakow (2016).
He advised the Krakow Library on the development of functional and spatial guidelines for the competition for the new Mediateka building in Wesoła district in Krakow (2024) and the Jagiellonian University on the modernization of the Natural Sciences Library on the Jagiellonian University’s Third Campus (2024). He conducts courses in Polish and English at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, as well as the University of Tennessee exchange program. He has been the supervisor and co-supervisor of nearly 80 B.Sc. And M.Sc. theses, several of which have received regional, national and international awards, distinctions and nominations, including in the Respectus competition organised by the Małopolska Province Board, the competition organised by the Association of Polish Town Planners (TUP), the SARPFR competition, and the RIBA President’s Medals. In 2019 and 2024, he was a guest critic at the College of Architecture & Design, University of Tennessee in Knoxville, USA. He was an assistant supervisor in one doctoral programme (2022).
He worked in design offices in Chicago and Krakow, and from 2012 to 2018 he ran (with architect Michał Jezierski) his own design practice, 9780 Architekci. His most important projects include the DMD-M Technology Demonstrator in Mysłowice (R&D work as part of the DMD-M consortium, completion in 2023), the Cognitarium Knowledge Centre in Koszalin (co-author and library technology consultant, as part of the Artur Jasiński i Wspólnicy 2022 team), a studio in the Beskid Niski mountains (completion in 2018), Hampton by Hilton hotel in Swarzędz (completion 2017), reconstruction and extension of a historic villa for the headquarters of KSSE in Gliwice (1st prize in the competition, completion 2017), Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Szczecin (design 2016), public library in Mielec (competition 2015), Municipal Transport Integration Centre in Jaworzno-Szczakowa (1st place in the 2014 competition), public library in Michałowice (honourable mention in the 2013 competition), roof deck and sky bar at the Sheraton Hotel in Krakow (completed in 2013), residential complex in Krakow (completed in 2013), EXPO Kraków (completed in 2014).
He has received numerous awards and mentions for his creative work: a mention in the competition organised by the Municipality of Krakow and SARP Krakow for the development of the concept of the Zabłocie 20.22 socio-economic innovation cluster in Krakow (2017), a mention in the SARP Opole competition for the development of a programme, spatial, urban and architectural concept for the development of the post-industrial areas of ‘Śródmieście VIa’ in Opole (2015), 1st prize in the competition organized by the Municipality of Jaworzno for the multimodal transportation hub at the Jaworzno-Szczakowa station (2014), 1st prize in the Katowice Special Economic Zone competition for the restoration and adaptation of a 1930s villa in Gliwice for office use (2013), honorable mention in the SARP and Book Institute competition for a municipal public library (2012), 2nd distinction in the SARP Kraków competition for the functional and spatial development of the Mogilskie roundabout area in Kraków (2007), nomination in the RIAI international competition for the Library of the 21st Century in Cork, Ireland (2005), and 2nd prize in the Schindler Award (2004).
From 2012 to 2020, he was the Dean’s proxy for investments and renovations at the Faculty of Architecture. Since 2022, he has been the departmental coordinator for student exchange under bilateral agreements with foreign universities (beyond the Erasmus+ program), and since 2025, he has been the thematic editor of the Architecture section of the PUA scientific journal Przestrzeń / Urbanistyka / Architektura (Space / Urban Planning / Architecture).
He is a co-founder and member of the civic association Przestrzeń-Ludzie-Miasto (since 2009). He is a member of the Małopolska Regional Chamber of Architects (since 2012) and the Association of Polish Town Planners (since 2022).
