Absolwentka studiów magisterskich na Wydziale Architektury Politechniki Krakowskiej oraz studiów podyplomowych na kierunku Grafika Komputerowa na Wydziale Matematyki Stosowanej Akademii Górniczo-Hutniczej w Krakowie. Od 2005 roku zatrudniona na Wydziale Architektury PK, od 2012 roku na stanowisku adiunkta badawczo-dydaktycznego. W 2011 roku obroniła doktorat (dysertacja pt. „Architektura miasta idealnego”, promotor prof. dr hab. inż. arch. D. Kozłowski, uhonorowana z wyróżnieniem Rady Wydziału Architektury PK).
Autorka i współautorka około 60 artykułów w czasopismach i rozdziałów w monografiach naukowych oraz wydawnictwach pokonferencyjnych, członkini zespołów redakcyjnych książek naukowych, uczestniczka konferencji i seminariów naukowych. Współautorka monografii pt. Śladami architektury, wraz z M. Skazą i M. Twardowskim. W latach 2017-25 redaktorka tematyczna czasopisma naukowego PUA. Stypendystka NAWA i CEEPUS, członkini w zespołach badawczych grantowych: EU HE FuturHist: An integrated typology-based approach to guide the future development of European historic buildings towards a clean energy transition oraz Privately Owned Public Spaces (Granty Wyszechradzkie). Co-liderka Thematic Interest Group Living Spaces w ramach Uniwersytetu Europejskiego STARS EU.

Autorka, współautorka i członkini zespołu przy kilkudziesięciu realizacjach i projektach architektonicznych, głównie z zakresu architektury mieszkaniowej i użyteczności publicznej. Członkini zespołu kilkunastu projektów konkursowych, w tym nagrodzonych i wyróżnionych. Członkini Towarzystwa Urbanistów Polskich, sekcji Planowania Zrównoważonego i Ochrony Środowiska Komisji Urbanistyki i Architektury PAN. Autorka i współautorka artykułów popularnonaukowych, popularyzatorka nauki.
Zainteresowania naukowe: narracja architektury i urbanistyki współczesnej, miasto idealne i utopie w architekturze, doświadczanie miejskiej przestrzeni publicznej i socjologia miasta.
PhD Eng. Arch. Ernestyna Szpakowska-Loranc
Graduate of Master’s studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology and postgraduate studies in Computer Graphics at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. Since 2005 she has been employed at the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology, and since 2012 she has held the position of research and teaching assistant professor. In 2011 she defended her PhD dissertation entitled “Architecture of the Ideal City” (supervisor: Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Arch. D. Kozłowski), which was awarded with distinction by the Council of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology.
Author and co-author of approximately 60 scientific articles published in journals, as well as chapters in academic monographs and post-conference publications; member of editorial teams of academic books; speaker in numerous scientific conferences and seminars. Co-author of the monograph Śladami architektury (In the Footsteps of Architecture), together with M. Skaza and M. Twardowski. In the years 2017–2025 she served as a thematic editor of the academic journal PUA. Recipient of NAWA and CEEPUS scholarships; researcher in grant-funded research teams, including the EU HE project FuturHist: An integrated typology-based approach to guide the future development of European historic buildings towards a clean energy transition and Privately Owned Public Spaces (Visegrad Grants). Co-leader of the Thematic Interest Group Living Spaces within the European University STARS EU.
She teaches courses in Polish and English. Supervisor of engineering and master’s diploma theses. Coordinator and tutor of international workshops. Academic advisor of the Urban Lab students’ scientific club. Secretary of architectural competitions organized by competitions of Association of Polish Architects and student competitions; member of organizing committees of international conferences.
Licensed architect and member of the Małopolska Regional Chamber of Architects. Author, co-author, and team member of several dozen architectural designs and completed projects, mainly in the fields of housing and public architecture. Member of teams for numerous architectural competition projects, including awarded and shortlisted entries. Member of the Society of Polish Town Planners, Section of Sustainable Planning and Environmental Protection of the Committee of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Author and co-author of popular science articles; active promoter of science.
Researchinterests: narrative in contemporary architecture and urban planning; the ideal city and architectural utopias; experiencing urban public space; sociology of the city.
