RESEARCH AND TEACHING projects and activities conducted by the Chair

 

  1. Studying the broadly understood planning and real-estate development process, which includes subject matter concerning:

The contemporary design, renovation and revitalization of urban complexes, with a particular emphasis on the housing environment, cultural buildings and ensembles, urban heritage structures, transport changes, the green surroundings of buildings, socially safe spaces, as well as recreational spaces. Urban morphology. Significance of public spaces and their public perception. Urbanism-related and legal matters concerning spatial planning and urban design. Technical and legal matters concerning real-estate development projects.

Research Partner of the DMD-M Consortium – in the 3D-volumetric multifamily eco-effective and process effective social architecture - National Grant for research, resign and realisation in Myslovice) – collaboration with DMDModular industry and Lightoffo (2021-2022).

Collaboration with communities in urban revitalisation, didactic applications – Golub Dobrzyń, Hrubieszów, Norway Grant (2020-21), Rabka (2020), Mogilany, Koźmin Wielkopolski (2019-2020).

 

  1. International cooperation with University Partners:

The cooperation involves common research activities as grant applications, scientific publications, Doctor students exchange/cooperation, international workshops in urban design and architecture, tutor’s exchange, visiting professor’s programme. The Partner institutions involve: University of Tennessee, Knoxville, UPC_BarcelonaTECH, TU Delft, TU Frankfurt, CTU Prague, TU Dresden, ENSA Strasbourg, Université de Mons, HAWK Hildesheim, University of Chalmers-Goetteborg, Politecnico di Milano, L’viv University. The Chair participates in CEEPUS network with TU Vienna, TU Bratislava, University of Maribor.

 

  1. Activity in support of academic cooperation with domestic and foreign research institutions and the popularization of science and exchange of ideas, with a particular emphasis on organizing cycles of international academic conferences dedicated to cities:
  • Future of the Cities – Cities of the Future, Kraków 2014 
  • 11 CTV Back to the Sense of the City, Kraków 2016 
  • Urban Composition of Resilient City (online), 2021
  • ISUF 29th International Seminar On Urban Form, Łódź–Kraków, “Urban Redevelopment and Revitalisation: A Multidisciplinary Perspective”, 2022.

 

  1. Wide-ranging research projects in cooperation with entities from the business environment, which include:
  • Developing technology for use in a multi-family residential building intended for social housing as a part of a public commission by the National Centre for Research and Development,
  • Studies of accessibility to persons with disabilities or temporary difficulties with mobility – project commissioned by the Municipality of Kraków,
  • Defining the spatial structure model of Kraków – project commissioned by the Municipality of Kraków,
  • Expert reports in the field of architecture, civil engineering and urban planning, commissioned by private individuals businesses and institutions.

 

  1. Teaching activity, which includes:
  • Activity listed in the Polish-language – Architecture and Urban Planning, Spatial Management – and English-language curricula – Bachelor in English, Master in English (architecture), teaching as a part of the CUT Doctoral School.
  • English-language education as a part of international programmes: Erasmus+, cooperation with the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design,
  • Projects conducted as a part of the Student Academic Club operated by the Chair,
  • Student participation in research.
  • Urban-architectural students’ workshops iwth partner Universities, city revitalisation programs involved Prague, Charleroi, Strasbourg (2022), Freiberg, Selb/As, Kraków (2019), Goetteborg, Mons (2018), Magdeburg, Nowy Targ (2017), Słubice (2016), Eco-Week Krakow (2015).
